Warm Water Rules

It’s finally here! We are officially under

Warm Water Rules.
What that means to you:

As of today, May 25, the lake’s temperature has risen to 17°C — we are now in Warm Water Rules.

After nearly a month of waiting, Guelph Lake has crossed the 15°C threshold. Feel free to test the water temperature yourself, though we’d recommend keeping the boat between you and the water.

A few important reminders as we enjoy this milestone:

  • The middle of the lake is likely still quite cold, so please exercise caution and take appropriate safety precautions.
  • For our early morning rowers, the air temperature is still chilly — some mornings dipping below 5°C — so make sure you’re dressed in layers and ready for it.
  • As always, please ensure you bring enough PFDs for all rowers in the crew, a fully stocked safety kit, and sign in and out of the logbook.
  • If you’re heading out without a coach boat, you must have a PFD and bailer/safety kit in the boat with you. We recommend you bring your mobile in a waterproof pouch as an added precaution.

Safety remains our top priority at the GRC and should be top of mind every time you head out on the water.

Now let’s get rowing!
