Senior Competitive

Senior Competitive

Head Coach: Pearl Schachter
For experienced U23 and Senior athletes focused on high-performance racing

This is GRC’s top-tier summer program for competitive rowers who are training to race – and win – at championship regattas. The program follows Rowing Canada’s Training to Compete (T2C) stage of athlete development and is open to both U23 (Senior B) and Senior (Senior A) athletes.

Expect a focused, high-intensity training environment where you’ll develop speed, strength, technical proficiency, and boat chemistry with your crew.

Who can join?

This program is for rowers with competitive experience. You’ll need to have completed a Learn-to-Row or High School rowing program, and you should be comfortable training at a high level. Racing experience is strongly recommended.

Experienced U17/U19 athletes are also welcome to register and will be considered for inclusion in training and racing crews.

All athletes must complete GRC’s Safety Program requirements before getting on the water.

Training Schedule

Monday to Saturday: 5:30 am – 7:30 am
Evening rows: May be scheduled based on coach and crew availability

Training includes two workouts per day, six days a week, with a mix of water sessions, erg training, and strength work. Specific times for afternoon/evening training blocks will be confirmed early in the season.

Crew Selection

Initial selections begin in early to mid-June. Final crew selection for Row Ontario Championships and the Royal Canadian Henley will be made by mid-July.

Selection is based on a combination of factors, including:
• Ergometer results

• Seat racing
• Coach discretion
