Rowing on Guelph Lake
Your GRC membership includes a 3-season pass to Guelph Lake Conservation Area – so there’s no need to pay at the gate. If you’re bringing a guest or hosting a visitor, they’ll need to pay the GRCA entry fee. You can check current rates on the GRCA website.
GRC Navigation Protocol
To keep things safe for everyone on the water, we follow a few simple rules:
- Always row counter-clockwise around the lake
- Keep the nearest shoreline off your starboard side (that’s your left side while rowing. If you’re the coxswain, it’s on your right)
- Faster boats and time trials should stick closer to the centre buoys – but avoid blocking the middle of the lake
- Slower crews should stay closer to shore
- Be aware of shallows and marked hazards, especially later in the season as water levels drop
- At the dock, give right of way to crews passing by. Launching and landing boats should wait until the path is clear
If you’re not sure – ask! We’re all here to help keep each other safe on the water.
