This week is all about recognizing the incredible impact coaches have on and off the water. Guelph Rowing Club is excited to join in celebrating National Coaching Week—a time to acknowledge the dedication, knowledge, and passion that our coaches bring to the sport. Whether they’re teaching technical skills, fostering personal growth, or inspiring teamwork, our coaches are the heart of rowing at GRC.
Over the past 25 years, GRC has had hundreds of dedicated coaches. They’ve spent countless hours in cold, dark, and wet conditions, always cheering on our athletes and helping them succeed. From grassroots programs to international competitions, our coaches’ influence reaches every level of rowing.
We want to give a special shoutout to our 24 current coaches who continue to make a difference every day: Mike Atkinson, Andrew Borden, Siri Borden, Rowen Conrad, Siobhan Crean, Alexandra Glista, Kiera Hickie-Bentzen, Andrew Janes, Nancy Kielar, Thomas Lacheur, Alexandra Lazenby, Dave Leger, Sasha Maksym, Joanne Ryks, Pearl Schachter, Abby Smith, Ethan Steele, Brian Sulley, Laura Toombs, Caelen Weber-Martin, Pat Weir, Jack Wilhelm, Joel Wilson, Jessica Wilson-Sterling.
Get involved!
The GRC Board of Directors encourages all members—rowers, parents, and fans alike—to take a moment during National Coaching Week to thank a coach who has made an impact on their life. Whether it’s a social media shoutout using #ThanksCoach or a personal message, let’s show our appreciation for their positive influence and commitment.
