The GRCA has informed us that blue-green algae has been detected in the area of the dam at Guelph Lake. At this time, the bloom has not been observed in other areas of the park, but we advise caution.
Health Advisory:
Avoid contact with the water or breathing in tiny water droplets if you suspect the presence of blue-green algae.
Do not swim or let pets swim in affected areas.
Avoid swallowing lake water or consuming fish or shellfish from the lake.
Watch for symptoms such as rash, eye or throat irritation, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, muscle weakness, dizziness, or liver damage.
For more detailed information, please refer to the CDC’s guidelines on Cyanobacteria or this resource from the GRCA.
We will provide further updates as more information becomes available. If you experience any symptoms or have concerns, please contact a healthcare provider.
