March Newsletter

Dear GRC Members,

Here is what’s happening at Guelph Rowing Club this month.

New Boat Purchase

The club has purchased the lightweight double, the OC2, to be added to the Masters and Recreational Programs’ fleet. Despite ice on Guelph Lake we can’t wait to see this boat get back on the water in the spring.

Learn to Row Volunteers

The club is looking for members to volunteer to coach our spring and summer Learn to Row Program. This is a great opportunity to help new members fall in love with the sport, get to know your fellow members and improve your own rowing skills! The GRC will also be hosting a LTR Coaching Workshop provided free to GRC members, details of date and time will follow soon. A Pleasure Craft License is required for a coaching position, however, if obtained to complete a volunteer coaching position the club will reimburse the cost. If you are interested in being a volunteer coach or coach boat driver for the Learn to Row program please reach out to Jessica Wilson.

Gryphon Rowing Banquet

The Gryphon Rowing Team would like to extend an invitation to the Gryphon Rowing Banquet to all GRC members. This banquet will take place at the Arboretum Center on March 16th and doors open at 6:30pm. Ticket sales are now open through March 9th. Tickets can be purchased here

This event is an annual fundraiser and opportunity to celebrate the athletes, coaches, alumni and all those who offer us their invaluable support. This year the team is thrilled to announce that the esteemed coach, Al Morrow will be the guest speaker!

In addition to dinner, awards and celebration there will be a silent auction available leading up to and at the event via an online platform. The link will go live closer to the event. If you would be interested in donating any items please contact Mackenzie Pearce the Team Executive Financial and Fundraiser Director.
