Dear GRC Members,
Here is what’s happening around the boathouse this month!
Summer Coaches
We’re happy to introduce our two summer coaches. Thomas and Hallee. They’ve been making the rounds introducing themselves over the past weeks.
Here’s a link to their schedules when they’ll be available to you for coaching.
Thomas Lacheur
His primary responsibility is the LTR program, though he’s also going to be available for coaching the Novice, Masters, and Recreational Programs.
In his own words:
Hey, my name is Thomas Lacheur and I am the summer Masters and Recreational rowing coach at the GRC for this summer. I got my start in rowing with the LTR program at Argonauts in May of 2018 and joined the Junior Racing Program that summer. After a few years there I enrolled at the University of Guelph. I joined the Varsity Gryphon team in the fall of 2021. I’ve become a student of the sport, often finding myself reviewing videos of myself and others rowing to find the small things to make myself better and faster. Ever since I sat down in a shell, I’ve loved this sport and can’t wait to do my part in its growth.
On a more human note, I am a History major at UoG. I was born and raised in the east-end of Toronto. I love Football, Formula 1, video games, and spending time with the fantastic people I can call my teammates and friends.
I can’t wait to get started with all of you soon and see everyone at the boathouse this summer!

Hallee Woodard is helping with competitive programs in the mornings, at regattas as well as coaching LTR Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
My name is Hallee, I just finished my first year in Mechanical Engineering here at the University of Guelph where I was also a coxswain for the varsity rowing program. I’ve been involved in the sport of rowing since 2018 when I began high school and have since rowed and coxed in many different races. Being involved in the rowing community has led me to build many great relationships and memories. I am looking forward to gaining a new perspective on the sport as a coach.
Thomas and Hallee are here to help make your membership with the club a positive and rewarding experience. Let them know if there’s something you need help with.
Tax Receipts
Tax receipts can now be issued for donations to the GRC.
Starting June 1, 2023, the GRC is able to provide tax receipts for any donation over $10 to our club through the National Sport Trust Fund and the Ontario Sport Network. Along with allowing you to claim your donations to the club against your taxable income, this will also allow us to apply for certain grants that were otherwise unavailable.
Junior Non-Competitive Row Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August
What to do after Junior Learn to Row? Junior Novice program now available. July and August, Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00pm-5:45pm. This is a non-competitive, coached rowing program for those who want to develop their skills but don’t want to compete. Sign up with a friend and enjoy the summer on the water!
